Whey Protein Hydrosolate

 

How does it work?

Whey protein is the watery portion of milk that separates from the curd during cheese making.1 Filtering the liquid portion and drying the remaining solid material creates whey protein concentrate (WPC) which contains approximately 30-80% protein.2 Filtering this WPC further then creates whey protein isolate (WPI) which is more easily absorbed in the digestive system, has more protein per unit and less fats and carbohydrates than WPC.3 Whey protein hydrosylate is created through hydrolysing either WPC or WPI through exposing the protein to heat, acid or enzymes that break apart the bonds linking amino acids.4 This creates an even easier digested protein due to being partially pre-digested.5Protein is essential for energy production, growth and development of muscle tissue, the immune system, and hormones,6 however whey protein specifically has shown to assist muscle protein synthesis, increase glutathione, support fat burning, boost immunity, improve insulin sensitivity and reduce appetite.7

What results can be expected?

Supplementing with whey protein hydrosylate may assist in increasing energy production, muscle growth and fat burning in conjunction with exercise training.8 WPH may be for those needing more easily digested protein and require minimal amounts of fats and carbohydrate while obtaining higher amounts of protein per serve compared to WPC and WPI.9
