Vitamin E

 

How does it work?

Vitamin E is an essential fat soluble vitamin involved in many processes in the body however its main function is to provide antioxidant activity to cells.1 It prevents free radical damage to the phospholipid layer of each cell membrane and is part of an antioxidant network which allows vitamin E to be recycled many times over for its antioxidant action, thus helping many conditions exposed to free radical cellular damage such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and male infertility.2 Vitamin E also helps promote wound healing, is neuroprotective, antiplatelet, anti-inflammatory and analgesic.3 These functions have shown to reduce inflammation and pain, particularly in arthritis and dysmenorrhoea; improve skin disorders, and increase cognition in alzheimers and the elderly.4

What results can be expected?

Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant and may help prevent and treat cellular damage that occurs in many conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, male infertility and inflammatory disorders.5 It may assist in reducing period pain, arthritis and inflammation in many conditions as well as healing wounds.6
