FORSKOLIN

Forskolin

 

How does it work?

Forskolin is one of the active constituents found in the plant Coleus forskohlii and is used for its vasodilatory, antihypertensive and bronchodilatory action as well as being positively inotropic on the heart, decreases intraocular pressure, and inhibits platelet aggregation.1 Traditionally it has been used to treat high blood pressure, angina (chest pain) and respiratory disorders such as asthma.2 Recent research has discovered forskolin may stimulate cyclic AMP production and lipolysis (fat breakdown), hence its current use as a weight loss aid.3 One study has shown forskolin to favourably alter body composition, increase bone mass and serum free testosterone levels in overweight and obese men,4 however further research is needed to confirm these claims for other individuals.

What results can be expected?

Forskolin may assist as an adjunct treatment for heart disorders such as high blood pressure and angina, as well as in the management and treatment of obesity.5
