GLOSSARY
ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS (EFAS)

Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)

How does it work?

EFAs compose of omega 3 (alpha-linolenic acid, DHA and EPA) and omega 6 (linoleic acid) fatty acids.1 They are considered essential as they can only be obtained through diet.2 EFAs are required for many important functions in the body such as cellular growth, maintenance of cellular membrane structure and fluidity, regulation of inflammation reactions, structure and communication of the central nervous system and blood triglyceride control.3

What results can be expected?

Due to the myriad of functions EFAs provide, supplementation can assist in many body systems such as skin disorders, inflammatory conditions, cardiovascular disease, mood and brain disorders, hormonal balance and immunity.4
