GLOSSARY
DEGLYCYRRHIZINATED LICORICE (DGL)

Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL)

How does it work?

DGL is a concentrated licorice extract with most of the glycyrrhizin content removed.1 Some individuals experience side effects with licorice containing glycyrrhizin, therefore DGL provides an alternative to inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract such as peptic ulcer, mouth ulcers and gastro-oesophagael reflux disease (GORD).2

What results can be expected?

DGL may assist in treating gastric and duodenal ulceration and GORD through inhibiting gastric acid secretion, preventing ulcer development and providing gastric mucosal protection.3
